KHWELE fell to the self-proclaimed Delangokwona who were standing in the way of the completion of construction at Menzi High School, Mlaza, the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, KwaZulu Natal, Martin Meyer.
Meyer was speaking yesterday when the department he leads officially handed over the completed rooms of the school.
”We will never sit down and talk to criminals. The completion of this school is a clear proof that we can defeat crime. And this clearly shows that Delangokoba can be defeated,” he said.
He said that as a government, they will never admit that there are certain people who threaten them, no matter how much they are feared. He said that what they are saying is not going backwards but going forward.
Today we will be happy that we fought and won when there are some who want to interfere with the education of our children. This clearly shows that if we fight, we can deal directly with crime,” explained Meyer.
Continuing, he said that in other areas where the department is building, they will not even allow the Delangokobana to come and interfere with the construction work.
He hit the ground running and said that they would not just keep quiet and fold their hands and watch the Delangokobana do away with children’s education without a valid reason.
”After all, what they were doing was explaining that they were against the education of our children, which we will never accept no matter how difficult it is,” he said.
Meyer is talking like this, it will be remembered that it was a matter of course that the construction of this school was interrupted because there were some people who called themselves Delangokobana who were disrupting the work, complaining that they were left out.
Meyer said that it would be a big mistake to allow the Delangobonas to interfere with the construction of a school with a good history like this one that seems to produce good results every year.
The principal of the school, Mrs Ndlanya, said that they are very happy that the construction of the school has finally been completed.
He described as the most important thing the importance of the school infrastructure being of good quality.
”We are very grateful to the Ministry of Labor and Employment for all the good things they have done to ensure that this great project is completed,” he explained.
This, he said, will greatly encourage students to continue to do well because they will be studying in a place they are most interested in being in because of its structure.
