Mythos AI banking threat: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had to hold a meeting with bank heads amid reports of the world’s most powerful AI model falling into the wrong hands. It was about the dangers related to AI, in which banks have been asked to remain alert. In fact, Mythos AI can reveal the flaws of even the biggest systems in a very short time and can also take advantage of them as per its convenience. Governments around the world are wary of Mythos falling into the wrong hands.

How dangerous is Anthropic’s AI Mythos?
How Dangerous Mythos Is?: A few days ago, a report revealed that Mythos, the world’s most dangerous AI model, has fallen into the wrong hands. Due to which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had to hold a meeting with bank heads. This meeting was about the dangers related to Artificial Intelligence. Indeed, Bloomberg reported that the AI model Mythos has been accessed by outsiders. It is noteworthy that this is the latest model of the leading AI company Anthropic and it is considered expert in finding and exploiting the shortcomings of major operating systems.

There is a fear that if Mythos falls into the wrong hands, such cyber attacks may occur, the likes of which have never been seen before. In such a situation, the bank accounts of common people can also be in danger due to this AI, due to which banks have been asked to take concrete steps in advance to keep their systems, data and customers’ money safe.

It is noteworthy that Mythos can work not just as an AI model but as an autonomous cyber-weapon. It can find in the blink of an eye those subtle flaws hidden in the code of the banking system, which have not been rectified. (Ref.)

What is Mythos?

Mytho is the latest AI model from the leading AI company Anthropic. It is said to be so dangerous and powerful that it has not yet been released to the general public. It has been provided to selected companies under Project Glasswing. Recently, there was news of this model falling into wrong hands, after which governments around the world are alert. In such a situation, the question arises that what is the threat from Mythos AI and is your bank account really in danger?
Exploiting a software weakness

Banks or other institutions release security patches from time to time to keep their systems secure. Whereas Mythos can scan the code of any software in the blink of an eye. In such a situation, in the blink of an eye, it finds those bugs or weaknesses which might not have been noticed by the developers. In such a situation, even before the security patch is available for the system, it can take advantage of it and do any kind of work.

Difficult for the system to recognize

Mythos AI is also said to be dangerous because it can do behavioral analysis very well. That is to say, it does not take much time to learn how the user logs in to the system. In such a situation, this AI can behave exactly like a real user or system administrator while carrying out attacks. Due to this, it is possible that existing firewalls and security systems may not be able to block it considering it a normal activity.

More powerful than human hackers

There is a world of difference between the hacking done by humans and the hacking done by Mythos. In fact, Mythos can scan the APIs of thousands of banks simultaneously. Even if there is a small flaw in the system, it can find it in seconds and extract the entire data.

Old systems are most at risk

This powerful AI can cause the most damage to codes based on older systems. It is worth noting that many banks in India run on their old legacy systems which are decades old. These systems were not built to withstand modern AI attacks. Models like Mythos can identify hidden flaws in these old codes and weaponize them. The old system will not be able to stop this advanced AI in any way.(REF.)
