An apparently fed-up Land Rover owner dropped off the burnt-out wreckage of his Defender in front of the local dealer in Nelspruit.

The vehicle – reportedly a 2023 model – is that of Pierre Coetsee and apparently burned out before it was placed at the dealer’s offices. This follows after he apparently previously lodged complaints with Land Rover about the vehicle and was dissatisfied with how the dealer handled his case.

The wreckage was removed by Van Wettens Breakdowns just after 07:00.

Nomaswazi Nkosi, spokesperson for Jaguar Land Rover Marketing South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, confirmed when asked that he was first notified of Coetsee’s vehicle and the objections to his insurance claim on December 15.

According to Nkosi, customer handling procedures were immediately implemented and the investigation is ongoing.

“We will communicate the findings directly to Coetsee and his legal representatives, as soon as the process is complete. Jaguar Land Rover South Africa remains committed to conducting all investigations fairly and transparently, and the safety and well-being of our customers remains our highest priority,” says Nkosi.

Coetsee could not immediately be reached for comment.
