It is expected that five women, who were allegedly caught with drugs hidden in their private parts at the airport, OR Tambo, in Gauteng, will appear today at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.
This was disclosed by the police spokesperson at the national level, Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk.
He said the officers of the South African Police Service (SAPS) working together with the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), arrested five women for drug trafficking.
“The drugs they were caught with, which they had stored in their bodies, can cost more than R5 million,” said Lt Col Van Wyk.
He said the police investigation revealed that they were heading to China, but they would pass through Dubai.
“Their search led to the discovery of drugs that were threatened in the sneakers, underwear and private parts,” said Lt Col Van Wyk.
He confirmed that they are expected to greet the magistrate today on charges related to drug trafficking.
He said the police investigation is still ongoing.
