The family is interested in the news of the arrest of the ex-boyfriend of a woman who was brutally murdered last week, in Nkwezane, Doringkop, Kwa Dukuza.

According to the deceased’s sister, Ms. Kholeka Mthethwa, the suspect was caught by the police in Melmoth, where he is said to have been hiding.

He had fled following the stabbing and slashing of Ms Happy Mthethwa (35), last Sunday.

Ms Mthethwa said It is a country yesterday, that they were happy to receive this news while the funeral service of the deceased was going on.

“The news came through the local chief, who said he was told by the police to convey this message to us as we were nowhere to be found. We are happy to hear that my sister’s coffin is going down, and they are crying for her too,” said Ms Mthethwa.

He said they also saw the joy on the faces of the deceased’s children when it appeared that they were crying for the suspect.

He said that since he will appear in court, what he expects is that the court will release him on bail for the brutality he did to the deceased.

“We will be there with the public and we will say with one voice that he should not be released on bail at all. We want him to rot in the middle,” he said.

The deceased is said to have moved to Johannesburg a short time ago, to try part-time work. It is said that he had returned for Easter services last weekend, as it is said that he went to worship the whole weekend with other relatives. It is said that when she came back on Sunday morning, she stayed for a while, then said that she was going to the house where her boyfriend lived to get his clothes because he had told her to break up.

It is said that she was unable to take her clothes as a dispute broke out in the house next to the one where her boyfriend lived, she stabbed him, and went to the neighbor’s veranda, where she allegedly pulled out a knife and cut him in front of them.

On Friday, tapes were released in which she said she had no regrets about killing him. It is said that she was sending these comments to a public WhatsApp group, accusing him of misbehaving, and said that she would kill him. She also insulted the local men, saying that she killed him because they were all women.

We went to the press and the police have yet to comment on the suspect’s arrest.
