THE FAMILY of DJ Sumbody, whose birth name is Oupa John Sefoka, has denied the allegations that spread over the weekend, that their son was heavily involved in the drug trade.

This follows a report that shows that the artist who was shot in November 2022, was involved in the theft of drugs which turned out to be lost in KZN, in the place where they were kept.

They say that these stories that have flooded the social media are not true and are reckless as they have not been confirmed anywhere.

They said that they have chosen to have their lawyers take care of this issue and that they will take legal action against them.

“As a family, we have been very disturbed by the story that came out recently which is false and we believe that it was negligent that it came out, and it was filled with social media. This issue is still on the court’s table and we admonish the members of the public who use social media to stop making assumptions that could lead to the interruption of the ongoing investigation. Everything about this matter is on the court’s table and we are waiting for it to be concluded,” said the statement.

They said that for these reasons no one will talk to the media and even on social media no one will respond.

“It hurts us what we see being said about our son, it degrades us a lot. We have informed our lawyers about this and we have told them to speak up and spread the news, we will take legal action against them,” said the family.

They said that what they want is for the people who killed their son to be arrested, to stop saying untrue things.

The National Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, urged people on social media to stop speculating on things like these and others who also reveal the names of people in cases that are still being investigated.

“Doing like this removes the information and names contained in the dockets, and puts people’s names at risk as the investigation is ongoing. This not only puts the witnesses in these cases at risk but also puts their families,” he explained.
