SOMABHIZINISI who is the leader of ActionSA KwaZulu-Natal, Mr. Zwakele Mncwango, has committed himself to support the family of the broadcaster who was recently appointed to Khozi FM, Sipho “Sgqemeza” Mbatha. Mncwango wrote on his Facebook page about the departure of Sgqemeza and Ayanda Msweli from this radio giant.

“It will take some time to get used to the fact that DJ Sgqemeza and Ayanda Msweli’s voices are no longer heard in the morning.”

Mncwango then praised the action of the Minister of Transport and Human Settlements in this province, Mr. Sboniso Duma, to support Msweli. He said it is painful to lose your job when you have a home, are married and have children.

“But God is there, he will plan the way. What I know is that Mthiya (said Sgqemeza) and the children will not starve while I’m alive. I am a true friend, and I will be honest with him,” concluded Mncwango who also works as a councilor representing ActionSA in the Etheku Council.

Sgqemeza is one of the broadcasters who have not been returned to Khozini, including King Sifiso who is on Vuma FM, Zeal Dladla who is on Jozi FM, Honorable Sibisi, producer of religious programs Lungisani Simelane and the station’s technical producer, Bonga “Sphongo” Dladla.

Sgqemeza said that it is in vain that you attended this radio station. He stated that his contract was not renewed this year, not that he asked to leave.

He said this in a statement he issued this week, after doing his last program on this radio station. He said he was surprised to see in the media that he wanted to change the program he was doing because of his teaching work. But he said the management did not come in to renew his contract.

“I even communicated with senior officials about the way my contract issue was handled. What surprises me is to see in the media that I asked to leave, which is not true. I can only say that my contract was not renewed, something went wrong as things happened that I do not understand. What led to this decision being taken is what I am complaining about, that is why I told the management at SABC. I respect the decision they took but the way it was delivered is what I am not happy with,” said Sgqemeza.

Msweli, who was reporting on the situation on the roads, said that Duma said that he did not hear that he had been removed from the list of Khozi employees, and sponsored the work to announce the traffic on his Facebook page which has reached 1 million followers. He said he heard on Monday around 5.30pm – his name has not been released – that his jacket was full of air.
