One suspect was killed and four arrested after a shootout with the police in Athlone.
The group, which is suspected to be linked to a business robbery incident in Lansdowne, was traveling in a gray Toyota Avanza without number plates when the Flying Squad officers tried to stop them.
It is reported that the driver tried to run away from the police and the police opened fire. The car finally stopped. There were five suspects who were inside, one of them was found dead, the other was taken to Groote Schuur Hospital, the remaining suspects were arrested.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is investigating the incident.
