KRUGER United also showed that they are not willing to leave the Motsepe Foundation Championship title race by defeating Upington City 2-1 at KaNyamazane Stadium, KaNyamazane, on Saturday.

The goals of Khethukuthula “Jaguar” Ndlovu and Celimpilo “Zidane” Ngema ensured that the Bushbuckridge team took all three points in this game. With this, it moved up to second place on the log with 33 points, behind Milford who is at the top with 36.

Kruger returns with just points, one of its rivals, Casric Stars, dropped them in a 2-2 draw with Hungry Lions on Saturday, at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium, Upington.

This team hired Abram Mongoya in October, as a coach after the departure of Vusumuzi Vilakazi to take over from Chippa United. It seems that it is beginning to reap the fruits of strengthening its squad with experienced players including Khethukuthula “Jaquar” Ndlovu, Celimpilo Ngema, Sipho Sibiya who is the captain, Tercious Malepe, Ntsako Makhubela and Lindokuhle “Ma11” Mtshali who signed in the past few weeks.

This team from Bushbuckridge will play against their other rivals in the league competition which are Casric, Milford and Cape Town City.

Casric, who was in second place on the log, dropped to fourth. In the third place went Cape Town City who collected the main points beating Midlands Wanderers 4-1 yesterday, at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town.

As it happens, Milford once again showed that they are not willing to leave the top of the Motsepe Championship log, beating Highbury FC 1-0 at Mhlathuze Sports Complex, Richards Bay.

Milford, coached by Xanti Pupuma who has been on top for a long time in the log, is looking forward to whether they will be able to hold the streak until the end of the season, especially since they will still be playing against teams that are competing for the title, namely Kruger, Casric and City.

These are the games that may clarify the chances of this team from Richards Bay to win the championship league title, following in the footsteps of another KwaZulu-Natal team, Durban City who won last season.
