Kholofelo Morodi, mayoral committee member for corporate and shared services in the Tshwane metro, was suspended on Thursday pending the outcome of a full investigation into the worrying allegations arising from the Madlanga Commission.

This decision follows after Nasiphi Moya, the mayor of Tshwane, announced a complete internal investigation on Thursday.

Morodi’s suspension follows what he believes to be internal tender documents to Sgt. Fannie Nkosi, alleged right hand of Lt. Gen. Shadrack Sibiya (suspended deputy national police commissioner) sent.

Matthew George, national director of communications for ActionSA, says this party will support all efforts to ensure that the highest standards of integrity are maintained among the party’s public representatives by fully investigating all allegations.

“South Africans are well-acquainted with political parties that are slow to act against allegations of malpractice, or simply brush them aside. ActionSA will never take this approach and where any allegations come to light, we will always act immediately to establish the full truth and enforce accountability where warranted.”

George says the party will support all efforts to expose the full facts through a thorough and fair investigation that leaves no stone unturned.

He also praised Moya for his immediate involvement with the Madlanga Commission and for his work to ensure cooperation between the City and the Commission, so that the City can urgently protect and maintain the integrity of its institutions.

“It must be made clear that ActionSA will always pursue accountability, and not shy away from it. We will provide continuous updates to the people of South Africa on this matter with full transparency,” says George.
