THE COACH of Kaizer Chiefs, Cedric Kaze, has urged his players not to be confused by winning two consecutive Betway Premiership games.

Chiefs beat Magesi FC 2-0 with goals from Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi in the Premiership on Saturday, at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban.

This team is only beating Magesi, they beat Durban City 1-0 last week. These results put Amakhosi back on track to finish third in the Premiership log which will give them the right to return to the Caf Confederation Cup next season.

Amakhosi won these two games and came back from four consecutive defeats.

“I believe that the difficulties we experienced were caused by the players being scolded and suspended due to cards, but the good performance of the key players in the team in consecutive games brings the stability we need,” said Kaze who trains in collaboration with Khalil Ben Youssef.

“We are the coaching staff and we knew why we were facing a difficult situation and the good thing is that we all kept our spirits down and we still need to keep our spirits down and we are not too happy with just winning two games. We need to work hard and keep the momentum.”

Duba, who scored his first goal this season, made Kaze believe that this will increase the player’s confidence level.

“He has shown since last season that he is a quality player. We need him and I believe he is coming back after his dip in other games. We needed the goal he scored, that’s why we didn’t play him as a striker because we knew that if he plays in the position he used to play, he will be able to get into the box and have a lot of space to finish the job because he is quick and runs. His goal I believe will increase his confidence.”

This current coach did not make a habit of being asked that if he leaves at the end of this season, it will mean leaving without completing the work he started with his teammates in this team.

“I can’t believe it. There are 10 games left, there is still a lot to do until the end of the season. Thank you.”

Amakhosi will return to the field with an away game against Orbit College on April 6 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Gqeberha.
