Julius Malema has filed an urgent application for contempt of court at the High Court, Pretoria, directed at Ngizwe Mchunu.

This request seeks an order that Mchunu is guilty of contempt of court and sentenced to 6 months without being given the opportunity to be fined.

Malema says that Mchunu deliberately and unlawfully continued to make defamatory statements about him in defiance of the court order issued on 5 June 2026, and deliberately and unlawfully refused to obey and respect that order.

The case is scheduled for hearing on June 17, 2026.
