The emergence of the news that Kaizer Chiefs striker, Etiosa Ighodaro has fully recovered, not only strengthens this team where it is weak but gives him the opportunity to avoid the history of having the worst season since he started playing in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

When the Chiefs signed the 24-year-old Nigerian striker in August last year, there was a lot of excitement among the fans since it was expected that he would solve the problem of scoring goals for the Chiefs which is currently crippling them.

It didn’t go as planned though because Ighodaro was injured shortly after arriving at Makhosi, and he sat out the first two months of the season.

This striker was seen for the first time wearing the Chiefs uniform at the end of October last year in the Betway Premiership match against Siwelele FC.

He scored his first goal for Chiefs when they won 3-1 against AS Simba from the Democratic of Congo (DRC) in the Caf Confederation Cup.

News has emerged that Ighodaro has been seen training fully with his teammates this week. This means that it is almost time for him to return to the field. The striker, who came to Mzansi to play for Mamelodi Sundowns, has 11 games left to avoid the worst record since he arrived in Mzansi in 2021.

According to Ighodaro’s history since he arrived in Mzansi, he has never scored less than six goals in a season. The 2024/2025 season that is in the books of AmaZulu FC, is the worst since he scored six goals in 27 games.

Apart from Sundowns, AmaZulu and Chiefs, Ighodaro has played for SuperSport United, Chippa United and the University of Pretoria.

Ighodaro is not the only Isolezwe to have fully recovered but Reeve Frosler was also seen training with the whole team as they prepare to face Magesi FC in the league match at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban, on Saturday at 6.30 in the evening.
