Zulu Zulu leader Sinqobile of Zwelithini has encouraged people, especially young people, to register to vote in the upcoming elections.

Mbube said he supports the work of the Electoral Commission in the country, which is in a campaign to encourage people to register to vote in local government elections. We say this after meeting with the commission officials, at the palace in Mashobeni, Phongolo on Tuesday.

Spokesman iThe King’s office, Prince Thulani Zulu, said Mbube fully supports the work of the commission as elections are coming up.

“Mbube encouraged people, especially the youth, to register to vote. He urged the youth to do this peacefully,” said Mntwana Thulani.

He said the officials of the commission are in the process of visiting the indigenous leadership bodies as there will be elections.

“The commission team discussed the plans for the election, including its preparations. They also talked about the campaign to educate people about voting.”

He said that the recent report which revealed that the people of KwaZulu-Natal, are reluctant to vote because they have lost hope in the government.

It will be remembered that the report revealed that the people of this state have lost hope compared to other states by voting because they no longer trust the government.

Prince Thulani said they accept that the commission respects the indigenous leadership and encourages the villagers to vote. The officials of the commission were in the province all this week to discuss with different bodies including the Premier of the province, Mr. Thami Ntuli.

Tomorrow, these officials are expected to hold a press conference to explain their trip to this province. As it happened, the commission ordered apolitical parties to quickly prepare the list of people they will vote for in the upcoming elections.

Officials of the commission speaking in Parliament, said that many of the cases that were resolved in the national and provincial elections of 2024, were about complaints about party delegates.

“The parties must, by July 30, finalize the list of the people they will represent. There are many cases that we had to resolve that concerned the people who will be appointed by the parties in the 2024 elections,” said Mamabolo yesterday when they were talking about the preparations for the elections, at the committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Parliament.

June 20 and 21, 2026 will be open for people to register to vote. Regarding the date of the election, it is still pendingThe Minister of Cooperative Governance and Indigenous Affairs in the country, Mr. Velenkosini Hlabisa, to announce the date.

Hlabisa is expected to announce the election date before the end of June. Elections are expected to be held in November or January.
