Iran is using AI tools created by American and European companies to increase its internet hacking i.e. cyber powers and to spread false news and rumors across the world. According to the Financial Times report, Iranian hackers are using foreign AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to target America and Israel. With the help of these tools, they are creating dangerous viruses i.e. malware that hack computers, writing fake and fraudulent messages in Arabic language to deceive people and creating real looking fake profiles on the internet.
Hackers are creating fake profiles
According to the report, to deceive people, Iranian hackers are creating such fake profiles, photos and identities with the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence), which look exactly like the real thing. They are doing this so that the other person has complete trust in them and they get trapped in their trap.
Targeting people like this
According to reports, they create fake profiles to interact with and gradually trick victims into lowering their guard. After this they send harmful links or requests. According to reports, Israeli people have suddenly started receiving a lot of fraudulent emails and text messages. Some of these messages are such that people have been openly offered to spy for Iran’s intelligence agency or to work with them.
AI is being used in these things also
News of Iran’s use of AI is not limited to cyber attacks and online scams.
According to the Financial Times report, AI is also being used to help in electromagnetic warfare, speed up decision-making in battlefield command centers and improve drone guidance and underwater targeting systems.
Apart from hacking on the internet, Iran is also using AI as a big weapon to change the thinking of people around the world and establish its dominance on the internet.
According to the report, government-linked accounts regularly share AI-generated videos targeting US President Donald Trump and promoting Iranian ideas online.
In April, YouTube banned the ‘Explosive Media’ channel. The allegation was that this channel used AI generated content to make fun of Trump and spread messages in favor of Iran.
