Trump’s stance on AI company Anthropic appears to be changing
Trump Message To Anthrpopic: US President Donald Trump has taken a surprising U turn regarding the giant AI company Anthropic. In an interview with The Axios Show, he said that he does not consider AI company Anthropic to be dangerous for the country’s security. It is worth noting that till a week ago this same company was, according to him, a big threat to the country. Following strict instructions on Anthropic’s advanced AI models, talks have taken place between Anthropic’s leadership and the US government. According to reports, for this reason Trump has changed his tune regarding the AI company.

There was danger a week ago, not now

When Trump was asked in the interview whether he considered Anthropic and its CEO Dario Amodei a threat to national security? So he replied in his own style that not now, but he used to believe till a week ago. He said that Amodei followed the instructions related to export control issued by the government very quickly and responsibly.

Actually, due to this controversy, Trump had ordered to stop the access of foreign citizens to Anthropic’s most advanced AI models Fable 5 and Mythos 5. Following orders from the government, Anthropic had completely blocked access to both the advanced models for all users.

Ban on meeting and advanced AI in France

During the G7 summit held in France, President Trump and all other global leaders met many big tech giants including Anthropic CEO Amodei. Just before this, an important meeting had taken place between Anthropic’s senior technical staff and Trump administration officials regarding foreign access to advanced AI models. For this reason also, Trump’s tone regarding Anthropic appeared to be changing. (REF.)

warnings given in words

Although Trump may have shown a soft stance on Anthropic in the interview, he did not rule out using his emergency powers under the Defense Production Act (DPA). On a question, he said in a warning tone that I have the power to use many powers but I cannot say that I will have to do anything like this.

I have the power to use many powers but I can’t say that I have to do anything like this.

On the other hand, according to reports, Anthropic spokesperson thanked the Trump government for quickly resolving the matter and said that they are committed to maintaining American AI leadership.
