The IFP CHAIRMAN, Mr. Bonginkosi Dhlamini, said that the leader of the party, Mr. Velenkosini Hlabisa, will manage until he declares himself that he wants to step down.

Dhamini said that it is a practice in the IFP that the leader manages until he is the one who says that he no longer wants to manage.

He said this while speaking at the funeral in Lundi, of the Vice Chairman of the IFP in the Zululand region, Mr. Thokozani Mkhize.

Dhamini said: “We cannot change our practice in the IFP, we are still going to do it. Our practice in the IFP is that the President manages until he says he no longer wants to.”

Dhamini said that Hlabisa will also appoint other leaders to work with.

“Aren’t we talking about our practice in the IFP? Our practice is that the President is the one who says that he sees who he can work with. We are creating a legend when we talk like that. Those who train should join the line, not wasting their time.”

Dhamini said that those who are in a hurry for Hlabisa to leave office are opposing the wish of the founder of the IFP, King Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

Dhamini said Buthelezi appointed Hlabisa to lead the IFP.

He said those who do not want Hlabisa means that they explained that Buthelezi made a mistake when he appointed Hlabisa.

“The Prince said that this is the President I am leaving you with. If you care about the party that the Prince left, here is the person that the Prince left. If you say you don’t agree with this, then the Prince is wrong. We are being harassed by people who doubt the results of the 2019 conference. They make it seem like it is a crime that Hlabisa is the president.”

Dlamini is talking like this, the IFP should have a leadership conference.

The IFP leadership conference was supposed to be held last year but was postponed.

The source said that there is little chance that the leadership selection conference will be held this year as local government elections are coming up.

“It is possible that the conference will be held after the election. It is dangerous for them to hold a conference if the election is being considered. You end up forgetting to campaign for the election and forget to fight each other.”

It is expected that there will be those who challenge Hlabisa when the leadership selection conference is scheduled.
