The KwaZulu-Natal Political Homicide Squad (PKTT) has arrested a suspect in the case of trying to kill MK Party secretary in Ilembe region, Zanele Mbhamali, and her husband.
The arrest of this person follows an incident that happened on 23 June 2026 at half past ten at night (22:30), when Mbhamali and her husband were driving home on the P100 road towards Ndwedwe, they were attacked by unknown suspects who opened fire on their car.
The suspect, Velile Ntshangase (27), originally from Mahlabathini, Olundi, appeared in Ndwedwe court today facing two charges of attempted murder.
The case was adjourned to August 3, 2026 so that the suspect can get a lawyer.
