The competition between America and China in the race of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become very interesting. Where American companies are spending billions of dollars on the development of OpenAI and Anthropic AI models. At the same time, China is surprising the market by bringing powerful AI at low cost. Beijing startup company Z. ai has launched its new model GLM-5.2.

Early last year, Chinese AI company DeepSeek surprised the market with its cheap but powerful AI model. At the same time, companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are spending billions of dollars in their development to bring powerful AI models in the market, but their models are becoming expensive for the people, due to which Chinese AI models are attracting people’s attention. Now another Chinese company has increased the problems of Anthropic and OpenAI. Beijing-based startup Z. ai launched a model called GLM-5.2 last month. It is giving tough competition to the models of both the companies, because apart from being powerful, it is also much cheaper than them.

Giving tough competition at low price

China’s new AI model GLM-5.2 has surprised Silicon Valley with its excellent coding and AI agent capabilities. This new model is giving tough competition to America’s most expensive and top AI products at a very low and affordable price. Due to this quality, many experts are calling it a mini DeepSeek moment, because like DeepSeek, it has proved that the world’s best and advanced AI can be created even at low cost. (Ref.)

Beyond Anthropic’s model

Its use has grown rapidly on third-party AI developer platforms like OpenRouter, where it now surpasses Anthropic’s model. Also, many big names, from Sridhar Ramaswami, CEO of cloud data platform Snowflake, to venture capitalist Marc Andreessen have praised its features.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump’s former AI advisor David Sachs had said a big thing. He had said that now China has created an open-source AI model, which is giving tough competition to the best models of America’s biggest AI companies and is as powerful as them.

Will make a model equal to Fable

In a response to Elon Musk on X last month, Z.ai founder Tang Jie said the Chinese startup could create a model equivalent to Anthropic’s Fable before the first quarter of next year.
