Researchers at the University of Hong Kong have created an AI tool called ‘Cardiomicscore’ that can detect cardiovascular risk up to 15 years before symptoms of heart disease, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, appear in a blood test.

The research team combined multiomics data, including genomics, metabolomics and proteomics, using deep learning. The study used population data from the UK Biobank and analyzed 2,920 circulating proteins and 168 metabolites measured from blood samples. These molecular signals may reflect changes in the immune system, metabolism, and vascular health.
What is the purpose?
