THE time has come for the Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, to change his mind about the Kaizer Chiefs players because there are many who it is difficult to ignore that they deserve a place in the team going to the World Cup which will be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America (USA) in June.

This is the opinion of one of the Chiefs’ acting coaches, Khalil Ben Youssef, who told the media after the 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates in the home game last weekend.

Broos ignoring the Chiefs players makes headlines every time he announces the squad.

It is worth noting, however, that in the two squads of this Belgian coach that played in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), the Kings’ players could not be seen.

In the Afcon of Morocco, Chiefs’ Mduduzi Shabalala was among the players who were targeted.

Even though leaving out the Makhosi players creates hatred for the fans of this Naturena team, Broos did not hide that his reason is that he does not see himself in the world class of this Naturena team.

According to Broos when he announced Bafana before the friendly matches with Panama last month, Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen was in a position to get a place in this squad but was left out due to an illness that forced him to go to the hospital.

This goalkeeper, who is already in history, has returned to the Chiefs’ scheme, he has done wonders for the home team and was named as the best player.

The good thing about this is that Petersen did it in front of Broos who was on the field.

After the game, Ben Youssef sent a message to Broos saying that Petersen is not the only one that Chiefs should look towards when he selects the squad for the World Cup because Bradley Cross, Lebohang Maboe and Thabiso Monyane are knocking.

“In my opinion, they are asking for five Chiefs players that I think deserve to get on the plane to the World Cup with Bafana,” said Ben Youssef.

“It must be a difficult decision for Broos because there are only four or five of the Chiefs who should not be left in the World Cup.

“We don’t have the power to oppose Broos for his reasons, but Petersen, in my opinion, was already ready to be part of Bafana without being affected by illness.

“I think it’s the same with Cross, Maboe and Monyane but we trust the coach.”

Fifa has decided that the World Cup squads to be decided will be sent to it on May 13. Broos will announce a squad of 55 players in the coming weeks.

Fifa has decided that all teams will release players on May 26. On June 1, Fifa expects all teams to give it a list of 23 to 26 players to play in the World Cup.
