A 17-year-old girl student says she was forced to drop out of school after she was hit by a car by a teacher in the school premises in an incident that took place in 2024.

The student, whose name has been withheld, was studying Grade 8 at Siphapheme High, Mzinto at the time of the incident. On the day of the incident, he said he was walking in the yard during recess – a female teacher called him a name and was run over by a car that seriously injured him entering and exiting the school.

”After that, blood came out of the genital organ. Since then my life has not been the same as I am still in hospitals,” he said.

He revealed that he had to drop out of school that same year because he was in a rush to go to the hospital until his family agreed that he should drop out of school because he was distracted.

”What hurts me the most is that I have had three surgeries. This life I live is very difficult. I would rather die than live this difficult life,” he explained.

He said that the saddest thing is that the teacher who hit him has never for a single day shown remorse or given him help by visiting hospitals.

“Would it be better if he cooperated with my parents so that I could benefit, now he just doesn’t care,” he said.

He admired the cruelty of this teacher and said that you can deny that you are a woman.

“It’s very scary the way she acts. It makes me wonder what kind of woman she is who doesn’t have this kind of compassion,” she explained.

He said his parents have tried many times to contact him to throw a stone in the towel for the hospital’s expenses but it’s just like pouring water off a duck’s back.

“That person has no conscience and is completely hypocritical,” he said.

He revealed that at the hospital they told him that he had a serious injury in the uterus, which he said is a very serious area.

”The doctors told me that I was badly injured in the uterus. This still doesn’t allow me to accept it,” he said.

The student’s sister said they wish to get justice for her sister’s injuries. He said that they still cannot believe that the teacher who did this has never shown the slightest remorse for the accident.

”The teacher still doesn’t care what happens to the person he hurt. It is clear that here we are dealing with a cruel teacher who does not care about other people,” he said.

The spokesperson for the Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Mr. Muzi Mahlambi did not respond to questions sent to him on the matter.
