A police officer suspected of being a gangster, Sergeant Fannie Nkosi, will still be in jail, as his bail application has been rejected.

Magistrate’s CourtPretoria North rejected Nkosi’s bail application yesterday. Nkosi was arrested on charges of violating the terms of the storage of firearms, possession of explosives and ammunition and possession of dockets. The cases are still closed.

Magistrate Thandi Theledi said Nkosi failed to state the reasons why he should be released on bail.

The State did not want Nkosi to be granted bail because he was afraid that he might escape from the case, as he also stated that he sees Nkosi as safer if he is in prison rather than being given bail because he is in good terms with gangsters who may want to harm him if he is given bail.

You were also afraid that he would try to interfere with the investigation because he is a police officer.

Nkosi will be kept in jail as the police continue their investigation.

He is accused of being close to businessmen facing a series of cases, Mr. Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and Katiso “KT” Molefe.

When he testified before the Commission led by Judge Mbuyiseli Madlanga, it was revealed that Nkosi was getting money from those businessmen who were in trouble.

It is also revealed that he was close to the taxi driver who was threatened like a snake, Mr. Jotham “Mswazi” Msibi and the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya.

Nkosi was arrested after police raided his home following his appearance before the Madlanga Commission.

Nkosi is still suspended from work as he faces a number of allegations.
