Milford FC’s lead in points in the PSL Promotion Play-Offs games that have been played has put them in a position to win the qualifying games that are wrapping up, and make the remaining two games the ones that will determine the chances of this KwaZulu-Natal team’s promotion to the Betway Premiership.

Milford leads the way with six points from two games. It opened with a 1-0 win over Cape Town City last week at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town, last week.

On Wednesday, they increased their chances in the Premiership by defeating Magesi FC 1-0, a game that was going in Magesi’s favor due to the goal difference.

So the result of today’s match at 3 pm that Milford will play at home against City in the second round at Mhlathuze Sports Complex, Richards Bay, will determine the way to the Premiership for this KwaZulu-Natal team.

Milford’s victory against City today could make things easier before the final match against Magesi on June 13 away, at Seshego Stadium, Polokwane, where they will only need a point to enter the Premiership.

Their draw today will mean praying for a draw between The Citizens and Magesi on Wednesday, and then they will fight for a point in the final against Magesi.

The Stallions, which was the first in its history to reach the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, this Play-Offs is its second chance to fight for the Premiership following its escape from the Motsepe Foundation Championship league title with the last games of the season having stayed at the top of the log, the league was finally won by Kruger United.

Apart from that, doing well in the qualifiers that have been played so far, challenges this team managed by Xanti Pupuma who is also its coach, in increasing the number of Premiership teams in Richards Bay which will mean a milestone for this city to have two teams playing in the Premiership, as it is still only Richards Bay FC.

On the other hand, the failure of The Citizens in today’s game to come back with points will mean the extinction of the hopes of returning to the Premiership for this team from Cape Town who were relegated last season.

The team managed by John Comitis has signed a number of players with experience playing in the Premiership and hired a coach from Netherlands, Jan Vreman, with the aim of returning to the Premiership as soon as possible, but it seems that things are still in denial.
