EVERYTHING is ready with preparations and programs on the fashion side of the annual Metro FM Music Awards 2026, whose theme this year is Music Excellence: Honoring Icons, which will be held at the ICC, Durban on Saturday.

In the event’s fashion programs, on the Black Carpet sponsored by African Fashion International, there will be Lamiez Holworthy and Luyanda Zuma of Miss SA fame, who will be talking to the guests who will be attending the event.

Siyamthanda Ndube, who is in charge of fashion for this event, said that this year’s theme is for people to adorn themselves with beautiful traditions and rich in the beauty of the continent of Africa, combining it with the beauty of music and what they think about it.

“Fashion and music always tell a story, so this time we are looking for artists to use the beauty of fashion to tell a story. This will give people the opportunity to express themselves freely, and show how far their art goes,” said Siyamthanda.

Metro FM broadcaster and television presenter, Siyabonga ‘Scoop Makhathini’ Ngwekazi, said she hopes that people will use this event to decorate with traditions that will remind people of music heroes who played a key role in this role such as Bra Hugh Masekela and Mama Miriam Makeba.

Siyabonga described this outfit as not forcing you to dress up in a suit, but allowing you to dress up just by wearing a shirt and pants and a jacket that can be black or brown, and make it different in a certain way.

“I expect to see people adorning themselves with the same customs that we always see worn everyday, but what you need to do is in a style that will make you stand out and show that you understand the importance of wearing fashion,” he said.
