WOMEN who already have children but who love and are interested in thriving in the modeling field have been given the opportunity to enter Miss KZN Queen 2026/27, a modeling competition that has opened up many modeling opportunities for young women.

This news was disclosed by the founder of the competition, Miss Zime Msweli who said that for a long time people have been asking her to loosen the rules for entering the competition, so that the beauty queens who have appeared are not locked out.

“I was also pushed that most of what we do is following the rules and the way to do it in the big modeling competitions Miss Universe and Miss World, who have already done this by relaxing the rules, we have seen the same thing happen to Miss South Africa here in our country,” said Ms Msweli.

Continuing, he said that as they are returning for the ninth time this year with this competition, they are looking to welcome 30 beauties who will divide them into two categories according to their age, which is Teen which is entered by those aged 15 to 32, and Senior which is entered by beauties aged 19 to 34. Entries this year close on May 16.

“We have already officially opened this year’s entries and we are looking to try to make sure that there are beauties who have come and we will give them the opportunity to show themselves what good they can bring to this competition. However, we must say that we will not give them a soft hand and we will try to do it in a direct and fair way,” said Ms Msweli.

“Also, since I am a person who uses social media a lot, I often notice that women with children are criticized and spoken badly about, and I think this opportunity will make them show themselves,” she said.

Miss KZN Queen has opened doors and promoted different beauties in the role including Ayanda Thabethe who won in 2020, who came second in Miss SA in 2022, Anelisa Nxele and Sibusisiwe Zwane who entered the Top 30 of Miss SA in 2023.

Among the beauties who have won this competition in previous years are Sithabile Mnyandu in 2018, Kholeka Dlamini in 2019, Ayanda Thabethe in 2020/21. Philasande Ngcamu in 2022, Sibusisiwe Zwane in 2023, Nkazimulo Tshabalala in 2024, Nothando Mngadi in 2025 and the title holder this year is Nelisa Khumalo.
