MAMELODI Sundowns continued to top the Betway Premiership log, defeating Durban City 1-0 at Chatsworth Stadium, Durban, on Tuesday night.

The goal that brought the Sandawanas to this game which they were in control of but did not attract many clear chances was scored by Katlego Ntsabeleng at the beginning of the first half.

This result confirmed that this team from Mamelodi is still leading the Premiership log with 56 points from 23 games.

Pirates tried everything to dislodge Sundowns from the top, beating Lamontville Golden Arrows 5-0 at Orlando Amstel Arena, Soweto.

Relebohile Mofokeng scored two goals for Zimnyama, the other two were blocked by Oswin Appollis, the other one came in when the Arrows stopper, Ayabulela Maxwele, stabbed home.

Magebula’s are still in second place on the log with 54 points in 23 games, which will make the battle for the title continue to intensify in the seven games that remain between the two top teams.

In other Betway Premiership matches, Magesi FC regained hope of survival by defeating Marumo Gallants 3-0, Chippa United defeated Siwelele 1-0, and Richards Bay FC beat Stellenbosch FC 2-1.
