While infrastructure repairs continue in the Kruger National Park following the floods of January 2026, the Shingwedzi rest camp will reopen from Friday, 6 March.
Access to Shingwedzi will be possible for the time being only through the Punda Maria or Pafuri gates.
JP Louw, spokesperson for SANParks, says repair work is currently underway on the ramp to the Letaba High Water Bridge. The bridge connects the tarmac road between the Mopani and Letaba rest camps. The public will be notified once the bridge is ready and accessible.
Other camps in the northern part of the park that are currently open include:
- Punda Maria drug fight
- Bateleur Forest Camp
- Mopani Rest Camp (partially open), accessible through the Punda and Pafuri gates
- Elephant Rest Camp, accessible through the Phalaborwa Gate
Talamati Forest Camp is currently inaccessible following Monday’s rainfall. Louw says guests are redirected to other camps.
Guests are also reminded that dirt roads marked with “no access” signs may not be used under any circumstances.
