The names of two men from Nanda were cleared when the Ntuzuma District Court sentenced them to life imprisonment each for the crime of slitting a man’s throat.

Sthembele Nongqakanga (27) who was the first suspect and his friend Jan Sinqina (21) were sentenced.

They were recently convicted by the same court for murdering the deceased, Mr. Lebohang Mabuya (23), by cutting his throat with a bottle.

It turns out that this incident happened on May 24, 2024, in Tafuleni, Nanda. The evidence says that they met the deceased and had an argument, the essence of which is unclear.

It turns out that their argument eventually led to them fighting until they overpowered the deceased and cut his throat with a bottle and he fell silent on the spot.

In the court, it was always revealed that the case was condemned and it was not revealed that there was a fight until there was a fight that brought out the body.

After they killed him, they left him like that and went back to their homes. It is said that there is someone who ended up being a State witness related to one of them who cleared the whole truth as it is by saying that they have brutally killed someone.

That relative is said to have woken up and gone to the police to say that there are people who say they killed someone, and explained how they said they killed him and where they met him.

After that, they ended up crying about Sigonyela’s bracelets for the crime of murdering someone. The court used the testimony of both of them who ended up being the State’s witness.

Earlier it was revealed that the killers tried to apply for bail but the court rejected them complaining about their reasons and said that it has no weight and therefore it will not release them.

When the magistrate (whose name has not been found) sentenced them, they cried loudly about the brutality they used when they killed Mabuya. It also lamented that even they were convicted without having dealt with the core of their dispute.

This alone, he said, means that they are people who are unwilling to give the family of the deceased a reason to forgive.

”You have never shown the slightest remorse for this. Until you dropped the case, you never told the court what actually happened on this day. Even today, even when you are being sentenced there, you remain silent,” said the Magistrate.

It goes on to say that it is very important for South African courts to be seen to issue weighty decisions in situations like this.

This, he said, helps even those who think of doing evil to see how hard it is to kill someone.

He said that people must know that killing someone is not a solution, but it ends up leading to someone passing away, and the murderer rotting in prison, and his future ends, and his family, who still cares a lot about him, is ashamed.

The magistrate cried loudly and how young people could not control their anger. He said it is sad that young boys just think that killing is the solution whenever there is a disagreement.

The magistrate then revealed that the two are deprived of the right to carry firearms.
