The popular actor Neels van Jaarsveld and Gerna Peterson, his fiancée of the past year, got married on Saturday.
The couple shared a series of wedding photos on social media with a message that read: “Die Van Jaarsvelds. 02.05.2026.”
Neels, known for his roles in, among others Fine print, Apples and tea, For the birds, Blood brothers, The Bang Bang Club in Domesticsyears ago as kykNET’s very first On my demand!-acted bachelor. Celebrities such as Brendan Peyper, Francois Jacobs and most recently JP Smith have since followed in his footsteps in their search for love on the show.
Although he didn’t find love at the time, Neels seems to be in good spirits now with the woman standing next to him today.
Earlier, when the couple had just become engaged, Neels told Maroela Media how romantic the event was.
“It was on a beautiful evening in Glencairn. Sushi, romantic music, candlelight and love,” he said.
“She is kind-hearted, spontaneous, jollybeautiful and wonderful. We look out for each other. And she always laughs at my jokes.”

A host of celebrities congratulated the couple on their big day, including Cintaine Schutte, Peach van Pletzen, Christel van den Bergh, Nadia Valvekens, Sandra Vaughn, Albert Pretorius, Rolanda Marais, Deon Lotz and Diaan Lawrenson.
“Wonderful! Many, many congratulations, you two. May your love only grow deeper with the years ahead,” said Nicola Hanekom, who opposite Neels in For the birds played, wrote on Instagram.
“This made my day! This is the best news! So happy for you and rooting for you all the way,” Cintaine wrote in her turn. Nadia’s message read: “Congratulations, you two! May you live a life full of love and laughter!”
