Mysore Pak or Mysuru Park is one of the most relished sweet dishes in Karnataka.
It is prepared on special occasions especially on Dasara and Diwali in the state.
2 cup sugar 1 cup gram flour or besan 2 cup ghee
1 pinch baking powder 1/2 cup water
1. Pour in one cup of ghee and place over medium heat in a pan. 2. When the ghee is heated enough, add the gram flour and cook it for a few minutes.
3. Boil the sugar and water in a separate pan until the consistency of one string is reached. 4. Once the sugar syrup is ready, whisk in the cooked gram flour until it thickens.
5. After warming the leftover ghee, carefully stir in the gram flour mixture. Stir constantly to prevent lumps from forming. 6. Add the baking soda when the ghee starts to separate and rise from the sides.
6. Blend and transfer to a lightly oiled dish. Spread the ingredients evenly, then let it cool. 7. Scoop it into the required forms before it sets completely. Serve as desired after storing in an airtight container.
