Eskom says it is streamlining its customer service experience by closing some community-based service centres, a decision which has been met with consternation by residents.

The City of Cape Town has also pleaded with Eskom to reverse its decision to close its centres in Khayelitsha and Belville on Friday.

Western Cape Eskom spokesperson Kyle Cookson said the utility giant would create pop-up offices instead and customers would no longer have to travel long distances to Eskom offices.
