OpenAI, which is facing public anger due to its deal with the Pentagon, has suffered a major setback. Their head of robotics and consumer hardware, Caitlin Kalinowski, has resigned due to this deal and has also expressed concern about the company’s deal with the Pentagon. Whereas Anthropic is making new records despite the ban. Where more than 10 lakh people are creating accounts on Claude every day and double the number of people are purchasing paid plans than before.

Another blow to OpenAI on Pentagon and Anthropic is making new records
The story of giant AI company OpenAI and Anthropic has reached a strange turn. Anthropic continues to make gains after a falling out with the US Department of Defense, and OpenAI, which replaced Anthropic, continues to receive setbacks. In fact, Caitlin Kalinowski, head of robotics and consumer hardware of OpenAI, which has been embroiled in controversies since the Pentagon agreement, resigned from her post on Saturday. He cited OpenAI’s deal with the Pentagon as the reason for his resignation. Caitlin left Meta to join OpenAI in 2024.

Anthropic spokesperson Ryan Donegan says that since last week, a record number of new people are joining every day and about 1 million new users are creating their accounts with the cloud every day. Not only this, the number of people purchasing Caude’s paid plans has also doubled compared to the beginning of the year.

Shock to OpenAI

Shock to OpenAI

OpenAI suffered a blow on Saturday when its head of robotics and consumer hardware, Caitlin Kalinowski, resigned over the Pentagon deal. He also wrote about this on X that OpenAI has taken a very hasty decision to deploy its AI models on the Pentagon’s classified cloud network.

He further said in his post that the role of AI is important in the security of the country but its use without monitoring can be dangerous. He expressed deep concern over leaving the decisions of spying on people and using lethal weapons on AI and clearly said that ‘we do not want AI for war’ and the company should not be hasty in taking such decisions.

On this, OpenAI has reiterated its point that there are strong security arrangements in the deal and the company respects the different opinions of people.

Anthropic’s record breaking growth

Anthropic's record breaking growth

On the other hand, Anthropic is getting the benefit of being banned for government use by Trump. The company has said that about 10 lakh new users are creating accounts on Claude every day. The special thing is that growth is not limited to just creating accounts, rather Anthropic has outshined everyone in terms of active users as well.

According to the report, (REF.) As of March 2, Claude had 1.13 crore active users, which is the largest number so far for this platform. There have been more than 29 crore visits to Cloud’s website in the month of February and this is more than 43% compared to January. All this is when US President Trump has described Anthropic as dangerous for the country’s security.

What is the matter?

What is the matter?

This whole matter started when Anthropic refused to accept the Pentagon’s terms. Anthropic wanted that AI should neither be used for espionage nor in lethal weapons that can kill a human being of its own free will.

After this, Trump blocked Anthropic from government work, calling it a threat to the country’s security. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Sam Altman’s company made a deal with the Pentagon and replaced Anthropic. After this people made Anthropic number 1 on the App Store and started a campaign against ChatGPT. The controversy has now escalated so much that OpenAI’s head of robotics and consumer hardware has even resigned and expressed concerns about the company’s Pentagon deal on X.
