- Veteran actor Sello Motloung died on Sunday afternoon, his management, Artist Connection, confirmed.
- The critically acclaimed TV and theatre actor earned his stripes on SABC2’s Sesotho drama show Nna Sajene Kokobela on SABC 2.
- He recently starred in the film uBab’ Stivovo.
Seasoned TV and stage actor Sello Motloung has died.
His family shared a statement via Actor Spaces on their Instagram page.
“A heartfelt tribute to Sello Motloung, a beloved actor and artist who graced us with his talent, passion, and unwavering dedication. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, bra- Sello. Your light will forever shine in our hearts,” the post read.
“We are devastated to inform you of the sudden passing of Ntate Sello Motloung on Sunday, 15 September. His family is in shock, and we ask that you give them space at this time,” read a statement.
Confirming the news of his death with News24, his management, Artist Connection, said his family are still in shock and are processing the news.
“He collapsed at home, and his wife took him to the hospital, and he passed at about five yesterday.”
Motloung earned his acting stripes when he starred in Nna Sajene Kokobela, a Sesotho drama series that aired on SABC2; he also starred in SABC3’s The Estate.
The seasoned actor showed he was not one to be forgotten when he reminded viewers of his acting abilities in the role of King of Bafokeng in Showmax’s The Wife.
He also appeared in Backstage, Ring of Lies and Mamello.

uBab’ Stivovo is a fantastical comedy that follows the journey of Stivovo, a carefree and indifferent new father and boyfriend, who is suddenly thrust into “Daddy Camp” after a life-altering wake-up call.
He said of his role, “I’m raising four girls, so I can relate to being a father more than anything. The combination blends well because it’s the closest thing to reality.”
The film is directed by Abulele Peterson and Bongo Jwaqa, both graduates of the Multichoice Talent Factory.
Reflecting on his role and the collaboration with the Multichoice Talent Factory, Motloung emphasised the importance of nurturing young talent.
“It’s imperative to be open to new ideas and perspectives that emerging talent brings. They bring fresh, groundbreaking, creative ideas that keep us current,” he said.
