Less than 24 hours since chaos erupted at a Nelson Mandela Bay Shoprite branch over a racist messages about her black colleagues, the retail giant said preliminary investigations show that the WhatsApp messages did not come from the accused woman’s phone and they are working to get to the bottom of them.
There was high drama on Friday morning when scores of EFF members and angry residents of KwaNobuhle in Kariega protested outside the store and demanded that the manager – a Coloured woman – resign with immediate effect.
Heavily armed private security and police officials prevented the angry crowd from entering by shutting the doors.
