A Gauteng-based law firm faced a setback when the sheriff of the court was unable to carry out a warrant to arrest the municipal manager of the City of Johannesburg, Floyd Brink.

Stefan Erasmus from Gittins Attorneys, who represents Pibir Investments in a legal action against the City and Brink, told News24 the office of the sheriff had initially “been on board with us for the whole time”.

The sheriff of the court went to Brink’s home on Wednesday morning to enforce a warrant of arrest after the City failed to comply with a court order interdicting it from disconnecting utilities.
