A United States court has certified that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) produced “sufficient” evidence to sustain its fraud and corruption case against former Free State premier Ace Magashule’s ex-PA – and found she can be extradited.

In a ruling delivered on Friday, Maryland District Court Magistrate Judge Erin Aslan ordered that Moroadi Cholota, who was studying in the US, remain behind bars while US Secretary of State Antony Blinken decides on whether to authorise her extradition.

Judge Charles Austin issued a warrant for Cholota’s arrest on 12 April 2024 and court documents record she subsequently consented to her detention, pending the outcome of the NPA’s application for her extradition.
