The Minister for Cooperative Governance and Indigenous Affairs, Pastor Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has sent a disaster management team to Msinga following the death of people at the Infenebude bridge on Thursday evening.

It is reported that after seven o’clock, a car carrying eight people overturned while trying to cross a low bridge on P17 in Nadi, Mabovini.

Two people were able to get out of the car and reach a safe place, while six others left with water.

The provincial disaster management team, in collaboration with the South African Police Search and Rescue Service (SAPS) arrived at the scene of the incident on Thursday night so far. Today, two bodies were found. The search for four missing people continues as efforts to find them continue.

The department is warning motorists not to cross low bridges when there is heavy rain. Disaster management officials are on alert throughout KwaZulu-Natal as the bad weather continues.
