To celebrate International Women’s Day, African Fashion International (AFI)  is showcasing some of the  brightest stars of Africa’s fashion in partnership with Forbes at the inaugural 30/50 Summit taking place in Abu Dhabi from March 6 to 9.

The 30/50 Summit will bring together women from both the “30 Under 30” and “50 Over 50” Forbes lists with keynote addresses by some of the world’s most influential global leaders. It will also spur debate and act as a catalyst for change in a region that’s often been found wanting when it comes to gender equality.

As part of the festivities the summit will host a fashion showcase on March 7 that will see a sartorial cultural exchange, offering a multi-perspective critique of gender norms and women’s empowerment. The finely curated lineup will showcase pan-African designers representing the full diversity of the continent. They will be presenting alongside a UAE-based designer, as well as a US designer of Persian ancestry.

AFI Young Designer of the Year 2021 Shamyra Moodley of LaaniRaani will make her international debut at Abu Dhabi. Other  designers to be featured include Sober Design House, Marie Louis Bishara, Madagascar-born Eric Raisina, Ghanaian Christie Brown the UAE’s Sara Tamimi and US-based evening wear brand Sima Collezione. To catch the global fashion showcase, you can take your front-row seat online via the newly launched AFI app or their You Tube channel.
