Three suspects were shot dead on Wednesday morning during a shootout with the police at De Deur in Gauteng.

Lt. Col. Granville Meyer, spokesperson for the Falcons, says members of the Falcons’ unit for serious organized crime in the Vaal and Germiston, together with other specialized units, responded to information about the whereabouts of suspects.

“The suspects were wanted in connection with the murder of a police officer and attempted murder in the Johannesburg Central policing area,” says Meyer.

According to Meyer, the suspects opened fire on the police when members arrived at the address in question.

“The police fired back and fatally wounded the suspects.”

Meyer says one revolver with ammunition and two pistols with ammunition were found at the scene. Two of the firearms’ serial numbers had been filed off.
