THE CHURCH OF ZION, The Beginning of Christian Peace Church of God in Zion, used the gathering to commemorate the Lord Jesus Christ – the Easter Festival, to strengthen the leadership structures of this church – which coincided with the 20th anniversary of its establishment.

That happened when the church, which now has two branches, gathered for the Easter service at Sikhonyane Primary School, Ndulinde, Mandeni, in the north of KwaZulu-Natal last weekend.

In this meeting Rev. Mfundiseni Mpanza who was the Pastor of the church and his wife Mrs. Smangele Mpanza were promoted, they were given the positions of Pastor and General Pastor of the church – which means that they are responsible for all the branches of the church, its welfare, the growth and cooperation of its brothers.

Mr. Leonard Mpungose and his wife Ms. Thandi Nxumalo and Mr. Mfanafuthi Magwaza of the Ntuzuma branch, Durban, have been given the duties of being Pastors and Pastors of the church together. Mr Lindokuhle Nxumalo, who is the leader of the church choir – he has been given the position of Preacher of the church.

Mrs. Hlengiwe Nxumalo and Mrs. Nonhlangla Dludla from the Ndulinde branch, and Miss. Girlie Hlanguza and Miss. Zandile Biyela from the Ntuzuma branch – they are entrusted with the task of being elders of the church, which means that they are responsible for the well-being of the brothers when they attend big and important services in the church.

The leader of this church, Bishop Scelo Mpungose, said that the leadership of the church felt it was important to respect these brothers through these activities because they saw their hard work and showed their skills and patience in it before they were ordained.

“In order for the church to grow in the right way, it needs to have all the key and pillars to move forward, that’s why we tried to fill all the gaps that were open when other brothers left the church, then we also added to those important tasks but there were no people doing them full time,” he said.

Mpungose encouraged these brothers to lead the church with integrity and to ensure that they avoid using the power they have been given and trusted with to heal the brothers with an iron hand, because that is one of the things that takes the church back.
