AmaZulu FC has become known for its tragic death with the death of one of the team’s staunchest fans, Luyanda “Small” Mbuyazi, due to illness.

Mbuyazi, who hails from Melmoth, was popularly known as “Usuthu Queen” because she is a big female fan of this KwaZulu-Natal team which has a deep history in local football.

She was always seen at Suthu games and stood out because of the special way she wore jewelry, including a green necklace decorated with white and green beads.

The news of his passing has spread on social media, with other football fans crying.

The Zulus described Luyanda who supported them at all times.

“The MaZulu FC Board, managers, coaches, players, staff, fans and football fans as a whole are deeply saddened by the passing of Luyanda Mbuyazi who was known as the “Usuthu Queen,” reads a statement issued by AmaZulu FC.

“He was a dedicated fan of MaZulu FC known for supporting the team at all times and standing out in the crowd among Suthu fans.

“He loved the team not only on the day of the match. His energy and the way he was proud of the team made Suthu fans more visible and audible than before.

“His passing leaves a big gap for Suthu fans. He will be greatly missed, not only for his love for this game, but also for the way he was proud of this team and its culture.”

One of the famous football fans in Mzansi, Joy “Mama Joy” Chauke is one of those affected by Luyanda’s death.

“South Africa and the Zulus have lost a loyal supporter, Usuthu Queen of the Zulu. SANASU (South African football fans association) has lost a member in you. My condolences to the family and friends. He is gone. Rest in peace,”

As it happens, Orlando Pirates recently mourned the death of one of its staunch fans, Charles “Makhalalaljo” Fantisi, who was also ill.
