As they stood next to their mother’s light brown casket covered in a large arrangement of bright flowers, the three heartbroken children of slain Gqeberha property agent Cheryl Kannemeyer could barely contain their emotions as they said goodbye on Friday.
Under the soft tones of Still by Hillsong Worship, Dexter, Jodi, and Blake Kannemeyer watched as their mother’s body was wheeled into a packed Gqeberha church hall where nearly a thousand people came to pay their respects to the beloved agent.
The eldest, Dexter, said the worst part about losing his mother was the urge to pick up the phone and call her just to be crushed moments later by the realisation she was gone, and he would never hear her voice again.
