The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has really raised the bar in the tourism industry. By handling the cost of food, flights, and accommodation for stranded travelers after an airport closure, the UAE has set a lesson for other countries in this regard.

On Saturday, February 28, Iran retaliated with missiles and drones against US military bases in the Gulf region, targeting cities in several Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. The move followed reported US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Regarding security, the UAE announced the closure of the airport on Saturday. Despite the chaos and widespread frustration, there was a positive outcome for tourists as the UAE agreed to cover the unexpected costs of more than 20,000 passengers.

Due to the ongoing disruption, Emirates Airlines has announced a reduction in flight prices, presenting passengers with a process to rebook or request a refund.

On Thursday, the Dubai-based airline issued a travel advisory indicating that passengers scheduled to fly between February 28 and March 31 can rebook their flights to depart before or after April 30, or opt for a refund if they choose not to travel. Those who booked directly with Emirates can easily submit refund requests through the company’s website.
