12 stores were destroyed in the Springfield China Mall, following a fire that broke out early on Saturday.

Firefighters in Durban rushed to the area on Saturday morning to stop a major fire that broke out at the China Mall, Springfield, and many shops were destroyed. The fire department in the Thekwini Municipality said they received a call reporting the incident at around 2.10 in the morning.

More than 25 personnel from four fire stations arrived at the site and started work. It is said that 14 shops were affected by the fire, but 12 were destroyed and two were seriously damaged. Apart from the destruction of shops, there are no reports of injuries or deaths.
