The men’s national cricket team will play the final group stage of the T20 World Cup in the next round.

The Proteas will wrap up the Group D matches by facing the United Arab Emirates at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in the city of New Delhi, India, on Wednesday at 7.30 am.

The local team has reduced the pressure by winning all three opening games in this group, defeating Canada, Afghanistan and New Zealand, who lead with six points.

Afghanistan’s victory over the UAE by five wickets yesterday, confirmed that the Proteas will be one of the two teams that will come out of Group D and advance to the second group stage, the Super Eight.

Wednesday’s game against the UAE will determine whether they finish top or second. This will also depend on today’s game between New Zealand, which is in second place with four points, and Canada.

Afghanistan, who are in third place with two points, will be praying for Canada to beat New Zealand, who will go ahead in their final game against Canada on Thursday.

The top two teams in each of the two Super Eight groups will advance to the semi-finals.
