It was raining heavily, driving people away from People’s Park in Durban at Kelvin Momo’s One Man Show event on Sunday night.
A strong wind accompanied by rain hit this area while people were still dancing and tents were turned and the event was forced to be closed immediately for the safety of the public. Weather forecasts did not indicate that the situation could change this way, however, event organizers issued a statement that the safety and well-being of all visitors, staff, and participants is a priority.
“This precautionary measure was taken to prevent any possible accidents or injuries that may arise from this natural disaster. We greatly appreciate the cooperation and understanding shown by all present at this time. Emergency procedures were followed to ensure an orderly and safe evacuation of the area,” said the organizers of the event in a statement.
The organizers of the event apologized profusely to the fans who left without seeing their favorite Kelvin Momo and other artists who were supposed to be performing.
“The decision to stop this event was not taken lightly, it was made with security in mind. More information about the event will be shared later.”
