A polygamous marriage involving the elderly in the Mthozela area, in the Eastern Cape, ended with the death of a 78-year-old man, when he was beaten to death by his 65-year-old ex-boyfriend on Friday.
Information from the police revealed that the 78-year-old man was at his house sitting with his ex-girlfriend (65) drinking alcohol, when the event was spoiled by the arrival of the woman’s boyfriend (59).
It is said that the boyfriend got angry and hit the deceased (78) with a stick and then stabbed him with many wounds on his body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was arrested a few hours later, and will appear at the Qumbu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with murder.
