The MKP is planning to return the sticks to the ANC, which has clarified its request for talks on the administration of the KwaZulu-Natal government, as it plans to give the ANC a boost in the Gauteng government.

MKP Secretary General, Mr. Sibonelo Nomvalo, said they decided not to support the passage of the Gauteng budget because the ANC refused to cooperate with them in KwaZulu-Natal.

He said this while talking to the media, yesterday. MKP is in the process of overthrowing the KwaZulu-Natal government led by the IFP. The ANC is part of the coalition government in KwaZulu-Natal.

In Gauteng, the ANC does not have enough seats to govern independently, it relies on the support of MKP and EFF if it needs to pass the budget. Nomvalo said the Secretary General of the ANC, Mr. Fikile Mbalula, explained their request for a meeting. Nomvalo said the ANC will see for itself how it will pass this year’s Gauteng budget.

“We all know that the MKP won the most votes in KwaZulu-Natal. We decided to let the ANC rule here in Gauteng because we trusted Panyaza (Gauteng Premier Lesufi). We know that he is not afraid of the whites. Due to Mbalula’s ignorance, he decided to ignore our letter. He did not respond to the letter we wrote to him. That is why we decided to oppose the passage of the Gauteng budget.”

He said they sympathize with Lesufi who is dying for the sins of his parents.

“He refused to work with the DA in his government. They will see for themselves how they pass the budget. We cannot help the ANC in Gauteng when they do not want to help us in KwaZulu-Natal.”

Nomvalo said that Mbalula’s actions showed that he has a grudge against MKP.

“When there were discussions about joint governance, he even discussed groups that killed black people during apartheid. What made him not want to talk to us, we are a group that fights for black people?”

Nomvalo said that discussions on co-governance in KwaZulu-Natal are ongoing. MKP has 37 out of 80 seats in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislative Assembly.

MKP is supported by the EFF which has two seats. It is also supported by the leaders of the non-majority party in the provincial government, NFP, which has one seat.

But a member of the NFP in the Legislative Assembly, Ms. Mbali Shinga, is voting with the ruling and coalition parties despite the party’s national leadership announcing its withdrawal from the provincial government. Ms Shinga continues to vie for the position of Minister of Community Development. The party leadership ordered him to step down from this position last year.

Ms Shinga recently faced the disciplinary committee because she ignored the order to support MKP’s motion of no confidence in Ntuli’s leadership. The decision of the committee that supervised Ms. Shinga’s punishment has not yet been released.
