The MAYOR of Baqulusini, Mr. Sifiso Mkhwanazi, said that the destruction of infrastructure is damaging to them as a council, as it makes them spend money on projects that were not planned.

He said this during the launch of the integrated development plan in Mondlo in the A ward at the weekend.

Mkhwanazi said that in the past few weeks there have been reports on social media that money has been stolen from the municipality and it is not known where it has gone.

He said people who say this is because they do not know the challenges they face due to the behavior of other members of the community.

“I want to clarify this issue because it has been flooded on the social media. No money has been spent carelessly or misdirected, but according to the way the money has been allocated, it has been put in its proper place. But the destruction of the water and electricity infrastructure makes us take money from other places to repair the damaged things. We cannot wait until the start of another financial year to fix the wrong things,” said Mkhwanazi.

He said in the community of Mondlo they have many problems related to illegal electricity connection and they will fix it soon.

“Community, please buy electricity and also pay the debts you have. We know many want to pay their debts but as leaders we must look at how to get them out of this situation,” said Mkhwanazi.

He said they chose not to come waving their hands in the community as they have left lawn mowers, sewing machines and to help artists who are developing in music to the businessmen.
